Dubbler – A New Kind of Social Networking

As a self-published writer, I’m always on the lookout for some new way to get my work in front of new readers. Usually that means diving into new twists on the social networking/media craze. I have accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, ad infintum, ad nausium, etc. I can’t keep up with most of the accounts I have, but that doesn’t stop me from trying new things that come up, just in case. Now I think I’ve found something that might just be perfect for writers, especially writers who have experience or a talent for engaging readings!

Dubbler is a social networking platform app for your smart phone, both droid and iOS. With it, you can record up to 60 seconds of whatever you want. I’ve noticed a bunch of singing going on, but other folks are posting thoughts on budgeting and finance, Magic the Gathering, thoughts on spirituality, and me…well, I’m talking about books, and since I also do the storyteller thing, I’m also doing brief readings. So far I’ve got a little Spellpunk and Halloween Jack and the Devil’s Gate.

This new app is potentially very dangerous for me. It’s like all your other social networking sites, except it’s the closest to actually having a conversation. And for those people who are a little voice shy, the app has the option to post a typed response to people’s dubs. You can also attach you Dubbler profile to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Like any new piece of technology, it’s got some kinks, but they are fairly minor, so I won’t go into them just now, as I have a feeling some might be due to my unfamiliarity with the platform and others will probably be fixed/adjusted shortly.

Check it out a www.dubbler.com! If you do, my profile name is MGallowglas. Hear me read some and talk about books and writing!
