Yeah. I know it's been a while since I've done an update. One of the most valuable skills a working and hustling creative can develop is knowing when too much is too much. Life got crazy and heavy for a good chunk of time. I spent the better part of the summer navigating several illnesses and my mental health, all while not burning out my creative spirit while doing so. I pushed Tears of Rage 5: The Sharpened Edge of Fate back until next year, rather than put out less-than-stellar work. Same with Legend of the Dragon Bone Flute. Ohh yeah. And my short story a week project for Patreon.

While all that seems like a lot of work to push aside, I made the right call. Instead, I focused on therapy, healing, and adjusting to the upheavals in my life—changing what I can and accepting what I can't.

Enough about that. On to work and such.

Writing

As I said, Tears of Rage and Dragon Bone Flute are on the back burner—for now. Ultimately, I think that's a good call. I want to take my time with them and make sure they live up to what has come before.

In other exciting news...

Halloween Jack and the Red Emperors is almost ready. It's long overdue. Some of you have been waiting a pretty long while to get your hands on this one. Special thanks to the Kickstarter supporters for their patience on this one. I truly think it will be more than worth the wait, especially considering it's over twice as long as Halloween Jack and the Devil's Gate.

This last weekend, I posted the novelette, "The Courtship of Halloween Jill," to my Patreon. It will be included in the hardback edition of Halloween Jack and the Devil's Gate. This story takes place shortly after the events of that book. It will also be available as an e-book and audiobook on the website store, coming soon.

Dramaturgy: Making Magic With Narrative — I started some outlining on this book and began organizing my notes. It should be ready early next year. The material for this one has been bouncing around my cranium for well over a decade. Once I get down to working on this one in earnest, it should write itself in less than a month. I doubt it will take more than one draft and a Polish. I'm looking forward to the discoveries I make in creating this one.

For now, I'm going to bypass what I've been reading and what I've been watching until next week. I'm eager to get to red emperors today. Next week, I'll talk about Andor, Sandman, Ironheart, and probably some WWE stuff. Yeah, I know I'm late to the party on a lot of those, but I have thoughts. Deep thoughts. Deeper thoughts than I have time for this morning.

Ohh, and I'll talk about books I'm reading.
