In 2023, Michael Todd Gallowglas decided to undergo a year-long journey to explore writing. Each day, he wrote a page or so about his thoughts about writing, though not necessarily about craft; rather, he would just ponder any aspect of writing that came to his mind on any given day. Some entries became about the art and craft of writing. In some, he considered the place of writers in the world. In others, he mused about what it meant for him to be a writer. In many, he examined his relationship with his writing. As Gallowglas writes, “This whole journal is basically one extended conversation about writing.” Welcome to the conversation.
