Book of the Month
Every month, I'll have a book of the month in several categories:
- One of my books.
- A fiction book by another writer.
- A poetry book by another writer.
For June of 2025 our books are...

Fourteen years ago this month, I released First Chosen, book 1 of the Tears of Rage Sequence. This series has taken a long and winding road. First self-published, then picked up by WordFire Press and given a full edit, then the rights returned to me, and now republishing all of them with plans to wrap up the series next year.
If you have friends looking for an awesome new series to fall in love with, let them know about Tears of Rage. If you've read any of the books, please write a review everywhere you've got an account. Amazon and Goodreads reviews make a huge difference.

I love this book so much! I've been a fan of O'Brien's work for years. His story, "The Things They Carried," was the inspiration for my Dead Weight books. When I heard he had a new book coming out, I danced with joy. It did not disappoint. This one came close to dethroning A Visit From the Goon Squad as my favorite book. This is also this month's book for the Reading As a Contact Sport class on Jun 14.

Hurdy-Gurdy was one of the first books I experienced in grad school for poetry. I fell in love with Seibles's blend of poetry and storytelling. He definitely shaped the way I approach storytelling within my own poems. I can't recommend his work highly enough.
